Those who prefer making their own ciggies are particularly fussy about smoke rolling papers. They always tend to avail the best one, to get the best effect and experience. The quality of these rolling papers varies depending upon the materials they are made up of.
Now there is a wide range of materials that are used to manufacture these papers. With time, the techniques have changed and so have the raw materials. Let us have a quick look.
The first ones
The earliest avatars of smoking rolling papers were made up of wood pulp. Or in other words, they were made up of the same materials, which are used to prepare regular papers. Naturally, they were not as fine and as delicate as the modern papers are.
The next generation papers
With the passage of time, rice-based variety came into being, which is expectedly better in terms of quality than the pulp papers. The most rational view is perhaps that each type of rolling paper has its own pros and cons and they need to be accepted in the way they are.
When it comes to selecting the type of paper, it comes down to personal style and preference and of course the techniques used to manufacture them.
The modern rolling papers
Amongst the modern papers, perhaps the wood pulp paper is the most popular one. In fact, they make the best rolling papers as well. This popularity can be attributed to the fact that the raw materials used to make this kind of papers are most abundantly found. In fact, all major tobacco companies make cigarettes using this kind of paper. Naturally, those who use this kind of rolling papers can get the feeling of smoking a factory made cigarette, just because of the fact they are using the same kind of rolling papers.
Again, there are two kinds of wood pulp papers. One is conditioned, and the other is the natural one. Wood pulp papers usually are not white. Those found in cigarettes are altered with the use of bleaching chemicals like calcium carbonate and hence, are abnormally white.
Those who like to use papers that are free from any chemical ingredients, natural wood pulp papers are the best choice. These wood pulp papers are in general light brown. These wool papers burn much faster than the other types of smoking rolling papers, mainly the rice-based papers.
Some tend to use the rice papers and the hemp rolling papers as well.
The gum factor
The gum and its quality is another factor that makes all the difference of a rolling paper. Generally, two types of glues are found – one is sugar gum, and the other is hand gum. While the sugar gum is understandably made up of sugar, the other one is extracted from Acacia tree. Apart from these two gums, there is a third type of glue, the hemp gum, which is derived from the cannabis leaves. All these three are 100 percent natural gums.
While ordering customized rolling papers people can opt between these three types of gums, in addition to some artificial versions, which are all flavored as per the choice of the customers.
